The Roman Snow

As I'm sure the whole entire world knows, it snowed here in Rome over the weekend. It was the first time since 2005 and needless to say the city has been in chaos since. I was upset I missed the experience of snow in Rome because I was in Florence, but I quickly got over it because the whole city shut down while we were gone. Public transportation, stores, restaurants, everything was closed. And our electricity still is waiting to be fixed in our apartment, however that won't happen until the Roman electricians feel safe enough to trek over. Until then, we must charge all of our computers and phones downstairs and have no functioning stove or fridge.
Being from Colorado, it all makes me laugh a little. When we returned from Florence, there was only slush on the ground, and I even commented how warm it was  (especially after the bitter cold in Florence). Later in the day we  received this email from the President of our university here slightly overreacting just like every other Roman, "The exceptional, severe weather conditions of the past three days in Rome, have created serious problems for the circulation in the city.True chaos was seen on Friday, and yesterday and today Rome has practically come to a halt." The mayor of Rome insisted all schools be closed today due to these treacherous conditions. I guess I can't complain. No school because there is slush on the ground, while my sister at home doesn't have school because there is 26 inches of snow on the ground.

The only remaining snow in the city when we returned yesterday.
This is Largo Argentina, part of the remains of the theater where Caesar was stabbed.

The snow outside my parents' bedroom window the same day.
